Prophet Muhammad (SAW)
Muhammad (Arabic: مُحَمَّد . 570 - June 8, 632 AD) was a religious, social, political leader and the founder of the religion of Islam. According to Muslim belief, he was the prophet who was given divine revelation to preach and affirm the monotheistic principle in the teachings of Adam, Abraham, Moses, Jesus and other Prophets. He is believed to be the Seal of the Prophets in Islam. Muhammad unified the Arabian Peninsula into a single state under Islamic rule, with the Qur'an being the foundation of the state.

Muhammad was born around 570 AD in Makkah.
He was the son of Abdullah bin Abdul Muttalib and Aminah bint Wahab. Muhammad's father, Abdullah, was the son of the leader of the Quraysh tribal confederation, Abdul Muttalib bin Hashim. Abdullah died a few months before Muhammad's birth, while his mother, Aminah died when he was six years old, leaving Muhammad an orphan. He grew up under the care of his grandfather, Abdul Muttalib, and after his grandfather passed away, he was taken in by his uncle, Abu Talib. In later years, he periodically secluded himself in the cave of Hira for several nights to pray. When he was 40 years old, around 610 AD, Muhammad reported being visited by Gabriel in the cave and receiving his first revelation from God. In 613, Muhammad began to preach openly, declaring that "God is One", then that the right way to live is to "surrender" (islām) to God, and that he was now a prophet and messenger of God, similar to prophets in Abrahamic religions.

Muhammad's followers were initially few in number, and even endured 13 years of oppression. Muhammad then decided to send some of his followers to Abyssinia in 615, before he and his followers migrated from Makkah to Yathrib (later known as Medina) in 622. This event, referred to as the Hijra, marked the beginning of the Islamic calendar, also known as the Hijri Calendar. In Medina, Muhammad united the tribes under the Constitution of Medina. In December 629, after eight years of mutual warfare with the tribes of Makkah, Muhammad gathered 10,000 Muslim soldiers and conquered Makkah. The conquest faced almost no resistance and Muhammad took the city with little bloodshed. In 632, a few months after returning from the Farewell Pilgrimage, he fell ill and died. At the time of his death, most of the Arabian Peninsula had converted to Islam.

Muhammad received revelations until his death, all of which formed the verses in the Qur'an, which is considered by Muslims to be the "Word of God" and has become the foundation of Islam. In addition to the Qur'ān, Muhammad's teachings and practices (sunnah) can be found in the Hadith and sirah (biography of Muhammad) literature and are also the main source of Islamic law.
