Cheryl Lemke is the CEO of the Metiri Group, a consulting firm that specializes in program evaluation, professional development, and systems thinking in digital learning and 21st Century skills. Ms. Lemke is renowned for her expertise and experience in systems thinking, from the policy level – with governors, legislators, superintendents, business leaders – to the school and classroom – with administrators, teachers, students, and parents. She brings over 25 years of experience in the public sector—as a teacher, state technology director, policy expert at a national education laboratory, executive director at a foundation, and associate superintendent for the Illinois State Board of Education, where she lead a division of 100 staff on data systems, infrastructure, and digital learning. She and her Metiri colleagues were the chief architects of the Future Ready framework and the ISTE-Metiri professional learning related to ISTE’s student standards. Currently she is the lead evaluator for a number of initiatives, including the Utah State Board of Education’s 5-year, $100 million Digital Teaching and Learning Program, and School2Home, which is the flagship initiative of the California Emerging Technology Fund.

School2Home is an innovative statewide program designed to close both the Achievement Gap and the Digital Divide by integrating the use of computing and broadband technologies into teaching and learning at low-performing middle schools throughout California. School2Home provides a systemic approach to improve education that builds on principal leadership with teacher professional development to infuse technology into the classroom as well as increase parent engagement in low-income communities where parents often do not have the ability to be involved in the school-life of their children and do not have high-speed Internet access at home.
