Life brings tension. The weekend brings release. For The Weekend is about using dance and connection as a form of self-expression to overcome darkness in the soul and one’s life. While upbeat, there are some lyrics referencing darkness and the extreme need to overcome the darkness through movement and romance. Lyrics such as “there’s a storm outside and a thunder inside the soul” and “tonight I tell the DJ to keep the beat pumping so my heart does the same” point to an underlying darkness that one must fight to overcome with their partner on the weekend. In some ways, there could be some life or death urgency to transform one’s experience of life and create a pathway to connection and happiness. This track serves as a reminder that we all have the ability to choose how we respond to life situations with purpose, grace, and reputation.
