Brick Furnace Chimney base crumbling and bricks falling out. It had been deteriorating since 2000 when I purchased the 143 year old house (Built 1870). However in the past week I had lost three bricks. This chimney serves as flu for two Nat Gas boilers and two hot water heaters. In retrospect I could have done a much better job of repair - but I have 4 children and one a newborn. So I did the best I could between diaper changes. Although I would have liked to hire a professional - money is tight. I poured concrete around 3 sides. One side basically inaccessible due to water heater on one side.
