Professor Dame Anne Mills is Deputy Director and Provost of the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, and Professor of Health Economics and Policy. She studied at St Hilda’s College, Oxford, graduating in History and Economics. She joined the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine becoming Professor in 1995 and Deputy Director & Provost in 2012. She is a worldwide authority on health economics, with a particular focus on creating efficient and equitable health systems in low-and-middle-income countries. She has held the position of President of the International Health Economics Association. She has researched and published widely in the fields of health economics and health systems in low- and middle-income countries. She has a CBE for services to medicine, and is a Fellow of the UK Academy of Medical Sciences. In 2013, she was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society and in 2015, made a Dame in the Queen’s New Year’s Honours, for services to international health.
