Today’s topic is about Duan Wu Jie 端午节, also known as dragon boat festival. Instead of talking about why the Chinese community all over the world celebrates this festival, we will talk about what the people in China do and eat during this festival.

Duan Wu Jie （端午节） is also known as dragon boat festival （龙舟节）, dragon day, double fifth festival （重五节）etc. It is one of the four most important festivals celebrated especially in mainland china namely Spring festival （春节）, Qing Ming Festival (tomb sweeping) (清明节) and Moon Cake Festival （中秋节）

Duan Wu Jie occurs on the fifth day of the fifth month on the Chinese lunisolar calendar.

In September 2009, UNESCO added Dragon Boat Festival to the Intangible Cultural Heritage list, making it the first Chinese festival to receive the honor.
