-Apply kojic acid preferably during the night time everyday for 3 months.
-Don’t continue for more than 3 months. You can start the treatment after a gap of few weeks.
-If you have a sensitive skin, you can do spot treatment, means you only apply it at the affected areas and not on the whole face.
-In the initial days you can also apply it on alternate days, thus, making your skin used to the product slowly.
-You will start seeing results in as early as 2 weeks. The pigmentation and dark spots start fading.
-Do a patch test before the first application.
Some people get erythema/ rash from kojic acid. A little bit of dryness and purging is acceptable (that means the product is working) but if you get erythema, discontinue the treatment.
-Apply it on clean, towel-dried skin. Kojic acid should come in direct contact with the skin to work efficiently. There should be no product or water on the face.
-Always follow it up with a moisturiser and sun screen. Kojic acid helps get rid of sun spots if applied correctly, but at the same time it also makes the skin sensitive to sun, therefore, a broad spectrum sunscreen is a must.
