Seven years of no service delivery for Khuma Hostel dwellers

Описание к видео Seven years of no service delivery for Khuma Hostel dwellers

The outlook for Khuma Hostel dwellers in the Matlosana Local Municipality in the North West province remains bleak after seven years of living in squalor. They were relocated from one hostel to another by the government in 2016 at a cost of over 18 million rand. The more than 200 hostel dwellers were promised that they'd be at the hostel temporarily while the government sought permanent housing for them.

To add insult to injury, the government spent an additional R12 million on the construction of temporary structures that remain incomplete while residents continue to toil away in hostels without basic services.
