Darkstalkers 1 [Arcade] - play as Pyron (playthrough, with ending)

Описание к видео Darkstalkers 1 [Arcade] - play as Pyron (playthrough, with ending)

This is a play-through using Pyron in the Arcade version of Darkstalkers 1. Read on below for more information...

Pyron is the final boss. He is an unplayable charter in this version of the game.

===== About Pyron =====
He is a powerful alien who has the power of controlling fire, and comes from the planet Hellstorm. For over 200 million years, he sought to collect worlds and other celestial objects throughout space by consuming them in flames. He originally went to the planet Earth during the age of the dinosaurs and created the army of Huitzil robots to wipe out life on it, however he did not consume it. 65 million years later, after travelling across the cosmos, he lands within the Atlantic Ocean to wait for the right time to consume the planet Earth. There is a sense of "honour" about him as he respects worthy opponents.

Design-wise, Pyron is the "alien" of the Darkstalkers franchise. He is made of pure energy, and makes for a decent boss of the series. Rather ironically, despite being an alien, his fighting style somewhat resembles a typical human martial artist with some fancy punches and kicks.

===== Additional Information =====

---- He doesn't have a Special gauge/bar at the bottom of the screen.

---- He cannot dash back or forward.

---- His basics inflict energy depletion even when blocked.

---- Despite being an unselectable/unplayable character, he actually has a 2nd colour palette if both players use alternate methods to select him.

---- On the character select screen, if Pyron is highlighted, pressing Left will highlight Huitzil (the sub-boss).

---- On the character select screen, if Pyron is highlighted, pressing Right will freeze and reset the game. This is because the game tries to highlight the next value up from Pyron, and seeing as there are no more characters after Pyron's value, it would have highlighted an "out-of-bounds" value which results in the game freezing and resetting.

---- When playing as him in single-player mode, when you reach and defeat Huitzil (the sub-boss), the game will lock up after the victory screen. This is probably due to the game getting confused because in this game you do not get to fight yourself in single-player mode. However there is a trick you can do to get to fight CPU Pyron, complete the game with Pyron and see his ending. You can see this in the video.

---- On the character select screen, his cursor/position is at the bottom-left of the screen. This position of course changes when you reach the 2 bosses and the grid 'extends'.

---- When playing as Pyron in single-player mode, when you reach Huitzil and the route character select screen 'extends', you can actually see your own cursor on Pyron's icon. At this point, Pyron's portrait and icon images are black silhouettes because he has not been revealed yet.

---- If you complete the game with him (using the trick), he actually has an ending with images and animation. However it is incomplete as there is no music, and it has nonsense text being just blocks of the letter 'A'.

---- Notice how fast he can repeatedly jam out his standing MK and HK in quick succession. You'd expect this for LK, but definitely not for a MK or HK!

---- If you play as Pyron and lose with him, he actually has a losing portrait animation where he face-palms himself and shakes his head on the winner/loser screen. This is interesting because legitimately, there is no instance in the game where Pyron could appear on this screen.

===== About Darkstalkers 1 =====
This was the debut game of the Darkstalkers franchise, and is essentially a fighting game with iconic horror monsters. Back then I imagine it amazed (and surprised) fans of the fighting game genre with it's superb graphics, style and animation.
