He met his end in an ambush where his lance failed against armored knights, leading to him being surrounded and slain.

In later centuries, Niklot would be remembered as the last great pagan defender of the western Slavs—a symbol of resistance against impossible odds. His enemies won the land, but his name endured, carried forward as a reminder that Europe’s conversion was not peaceful and that some chose to stand, knowing full well the cost.
