23 years before MGM would release its classic 1952 film “Singin’ In The Rain,” that title song had reigned as one of the last major hit tunes of the Roaring 20s. Cliff “Ukulele Ike” Edwards made it famous on record    • 1929 HITS ARCHIVE: Singin’ In The Rai...   and introduced it on-screen in the early musical “The Hollywood Revue Of 1929,” but this version by a male vocal quintet with piano accompaniment was the earliest recorded version.
