In 1919, this was a scarred hillside above Passchendaele — a landscape of wooden crosses, mud, and loss.

What began as a battlefield burial ground beside a captured German bunker became the largest Commonwealth war cemetery in the world.

Today, Tyne Cot holds nearly 12,000 graves — men who fell in the terrible fighting for Ypres and Passchendaele.

Behind them, carved into the great stone walls, are the names of over 34,000 missing soldiers with no known grave.

From rough wooden crosses to rows of white Portland stone, Tyne Cot stands as a place once defined by destruction — now defined by peace.

A resting place for thousands.
A reminder for us all.
