28-year-old Mike Grant hit rock bottom after being arrested numerous times. At his lowest period he was what he calls a satanic rapper named Opal Weaver and a heroin addict who got run over by his ex-girlfriend in a minivan. It was at that moment that he said his life changed and Philly Jesus emerged.

“Our source of existence, Jesus Christ of Nazareth was the rock at the bottom and I surrendered my life to him and he completely changed my life radically and he broke every chain of addiction,” Grant said.

Philly Jesus is the character that Grant now portrays as he walks around the city and tries to spread his message of faith. People on the streets constantly want to take pictures with him, shake his hand and pray with him. He rode skateboards, hugged babies, even freestyle rapped in LOVE Park, anything he says to spread his message.
