Moorcroft art ceramic became popular in the early 1900s for a style of design known as tube-lining, which was pioneered by William Moorcroft. Fluid clay is trailed on to the surface of the vase to create raised lays out and the piece is then hand-painted in rich glowing colors by expert artists. Moorcroft vases remain to be hand-made and hand-decorated at William Moorcroft's original manufacturing facility in Stoke-on-Trent, England.
