Yeast overgrowth often called candidiasis is one of the most overlooked causes of chronic health problems today. While everyone talks about gut bacteria and the microbiome, very few people are talking about yeast, and that’s a serious mistake.
In this video, I explain why candida and yeast overgrowth in the gut can quietly disrupt your entire body. From skin rashes, itching, redness, nail problems, and mouth sores to hormone imbalance, brain fog, depression, immune weakness, and frequent colds, yeast affects far more than most people realize.
I first learned about the dangers of feeding yeast back in 1982, and it completely changed how I understand health. When yeast dominates the gut, it releases toxic byproducts (mycotoxins) that interfere with hormones, immune function, mood, and metabolism. Over time, this imbalance can push the body toward chronic disease, including blood sugar problems, cardiovascular issues, and more.
One of the biggest drivers of yeast overgrowth is sugar and refined carbohydrates:
• White sugar
• White flour
• Baked goods, pasta, pizza
• Sweetened cereals and processed foods
• Clear, refined seed oils
These foods feed yeast aggressively, allowing it to crowd out healthy gut bacteria. Even white flour converts to sugar rapidly in the body, often faster than pure sugar itself.
In children, excess yeast often shows up as irritability, lack of focus, brain fog, and behavioral changes, largely driven by high sugar intake.
