In this video, we will visit Belfast Grand Central Station for the first time.

This station replaced the old Great Victoria Street station and Europa Buscentre, and is the second largest station on the island of Ireland after Dublin's Heuston Station.

The station has 8 platforms (double that of GVS), and 26 bus stands (8 more than the Europa Buscentre).

Like its predecessor GVS, it is the terminus of the Belfast to Bangor, Larne, and Derry lines. In addition, the Enterprise service was transferred over from Lanyon Place, having operated out of there for 48 years. Shortly after the Enterprise began operating out of the new station, it switched to an hourly frequency. Also, Portadown to Bangor services split in two, whereas at GVS it was a single line.

The trains at this station are also allocated certain platforms:

Platforms 1 - 4 are typically used by trains to Bangor, Larne, and Derry (Bangor and Larne trains usually used 1, 2, or 3 while the Derry ones use 4).

Platforms 5 and 6 are used by the Enterprise services to Dublin along with a few local trains (Initially, most of them started mainly using platform 5 when this station opened, but when the hourly service started, the two platforms alternate).

Platforms 7 and 8 are used by trains heading to Portadown, Lisburn, or Newry, as well as one Enterprise service (the 17:50 from Dublin, which does the 21:00 back, goes into and out of platform 7).

Overall, I have to say I am very impressed with Grand Central, I consider it a massive improvement over Great Victoria Street in every way.
