To acknowledge the incredible achievements of Waikato's scientists, excite young people about science career opportunities, and raise the profile of science within our community, (the) Kudos Science Awards were established in 2007.

With the help of major partners, we have awarded over $300,000 in prize money to reward and support the ongoing work of our scientists.

This year, with support from The Ministry of Business Innovation & Employment, the trust have piloted the "Science Spinners" initiative aimed at drawing children from low decile schools into the world of science. Hugely successful, the event drew over 160 students from 16 schools and was applauded by teachers, parents, and students alike.
