We are back today with another episode after a one week hiatus and will focus on Madayi, a small but significant town on the outskirts of Payyanur. Madayi was a historic trading hub for traders and merchants from all over the world and even welcomed the Greeks and Romans during its heyday. It is also said to be the site of the first ever Jewish settlement in India as evidenced by a pond built constructed by the Jews nearly two millennia ago. Apart from Jews, Muslims also had a significant presence in the region as it is home to a fort constructed by Hyder Ali and the second oldest mosque in Kerala, built by Arab explorer Malik Deenar. The town was also home to Cherusseri, who authored an epic called Krishnagadha while working in the court of Raja Udaya Varma. Madayi Para is well known for its geography and is a haven for nature enthusiasts thanks to its unique flora that's rarely found anywhere else in Kerala. Join us on this episode to learn more about the importance of Madayi and its history…!
