Thinking about what I have heard in Ceri’s service this time, I am reminded of some sayings that might be useful for me to remember:

% I once felt sorry ‘cause I had no shoes … and then I met a man who had no feet. It seems that (no matter how far down the social ladder I dropped) I could always find someone else I thought was living a harder life.

% It’s been said that you don’t get to choose when you live or die but you do get to choose how you live. So why not live in ways that bring Joy to yourself and (maybe) everyone around you?

% Mother Theresa said “If I can’t do great things, just let me do small things in a great way.” Sure, great things need to be done; but great numbers of WONDERFUL changes are done by ordinary people like me. Anyone who thinks that small acts can’t have huge impacts has never spent a night in a camping tent with a mosquito!

% Personally, I know of no faster way to feel better about myself than to perform random acts of kindness. Not sure why that is exactly. Maybe it is because giving is undeniable proof of having? Or maybe it is because demonstrating random acts of compassion is a proven healing balm on a person’s mental and emotional state of mind? I do know, personally, that sharing … even a little time or a little money or a little of my knowledge … gives me great pleasure.
