In Episode 31 of Beginning With Moses, we continue our study of Exodus 20 by examining the Eighth, Ninth, and Tenth Commandments—commandments that confront speech, desire, and the hidden life of the heart.

We explore what it means to bear true witness, defend our neighbor’s reputation, and explain everything in the kindest way. We also wrestle with the Bible’s teaching on lying, betrayal, moral relativism, and truth in a post-modern world.

The final commandments move inward, exposing covetousness as the root of so many sins—misdirected desire that corrodes joy, destroys community, and fractures our relationship with God and neighbor.

And once again, the Gospel shines clearly:
Jesus Christ embodies these commandments perfectly. He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life, and He trades everything for love—so that our hearts may be re-ordered toward contentment, gratitude, and trust in God.
