Montgomery is the capital city of Alabama. The black granite Civil Rights Memorial and adjacent exhibition centre commemorate the Civil Rights Movement. Martin Luther King, Jr. preached at the Dexter Avenue Baptist Church, a hub for the Montgomery bus boycott.. East of downtown, the Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts displays porcelain and American and African art.

Today, Montgomery is known for its renaissance of historic downtown and redevelopment of the riverfront. Montgomery is a city rich in history, once the capital of the Confederacy, Montgomery grew to become the centre of the Civil Rights Movement.

Visit the Dexter Parsonage Museum and experience Dr Martin Luther Kings residence from 1954-60. The Rosa Parks Library and Museum pays homage to the famed civil rights protester who refused to move from her seat at the front of the bus.
