Before a new town can be built a massive infrastructure of roads and sewers has to take place.
Telford was no exception, Miles and miles of new oversized drainage pipes were installed into huge trenches and some were even tunnelled out deep underground.
This is the story of the 1960/70s the creation of a massive drainage infrastructure that could cope with a once in a lifetime rain event.
When Telford Floods tells the story of these amazing engineering feats hidden away under our feet.

In Part One we look at the early stage one storm tunnels connecting Stafford park, Randlay & Stirchley with the balancing lake at Holmer farm, Better known as Holmer lake.
Built between 1969 - 1971 and runs for approx. 2.91 miles via the Randlay valley.
This pipe system changes shape a few times and is 25-30 FT underground at times.
The working name for this tunnel is the Nedge valley.

It is extremely dangerous to enter a storm drain and can result in sudden death by drowning.
