1997 Mazda Miata 6-Speed Transmission Install & Upgrades: Flywheel, Clutch, Shifter & More

Join us for the second part of our Mazda Miata series where we upgrade our 1997 NA Miata with a 6-speed transmission from an NB Miata! In this video, we clean and polish the 6-speed transmission, install a new rear main seal, lightweight flywheel, upgraded clutch and pressure plate, and replace the fork boot and throw out bearing. We also install a new gasket in the clutch housing, swap the NA starter for a lighter and more efficient NB starter, and replace the 3-piece clutch line with a 1-piece stainless steel braided clutch line. Finally, we add a short throw shifter for a more responsive driving experience.
