As the gardening editor for The Guardian, Jane Perrone has long been an advocate of growing your own produce and avoiding the sometimes exploitative practises of the food industry. She passes on her advice in the newspaper and is also the author of The Allotment Keeper's Handbook. She has been replacing supermarket salads with her own home grown food for two years.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience.
