New Delhi: The government has offered land to former PM Manmohan Singh's family for his memorial. This land has been allocated near the land designated for the memorial of former President Pranab Mukherjee. The government is waiting for the Manmohan Singh family to establish a trust. After that, the land will be officially allotted.

According to reports, the trust will also receive a grant of ₹25 lakh from the government. This amount will be used for the construction of the memorial. The government has been searching for land since Manmohan Singh's demise, and a survey was conducted for the same.

The Ministry of Urban Development and CPWD (Central Public Works Department) have jointly decided on the land for Manmohan Singh's memorial. This land falls under the National Memorial category, which was proposed by the UPA government in 2013. Below this site, there is also a memorial for Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

At the beginning of January, CPWD officials visited the National Memorial, and discussions were held about allocating land near Sanjay Gandhi’s Samadhi. It is reported that several sites were proposed to Manmohan Singh's family, and an agreement has now been reached on one of them. After Manmohan Singh’s passing, there was also political debate regarding his last rites.

After Manmohan Singh’s death, Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge wrote a letter to Home Minister Amit Shah, requesting that his last rites be performed at the location where his memorial could be built. In response, the government assured that the process of finding land for the memorial was being initiated. Like all other leaders, his memorial will also be built properly.
