I wanted to upload this visual on the first day back with Go Ahead London as the allocation is a lot better than Stagecoach's, and I did visual it on a G2 B9TL as its a lot better than the E400s to hold. I did this route at around 7am in the morning, and it was very nice. Driver left about 5 mins early from the stand so I'm glad I made it to Hermit Road a bit early to catch this. I also enjoyed seeing London City Airport and just the general routing of this around the Docklands. The bus didn't really get packed, only a bit towards the end where everyone was going towards the station which was 3 stops away smh. London Buses route 474 is a Transport for London contracted bus route in London, England. Running between Manor Park and Canning Town, it is operated by Blue Triangle.
Route 474 commenced operation on 1 May 1999 between Canning Town Hermit Road and East Beckton Asda via Canning Town Station - Silvertown Way - Albert Road - North Woolwich - Woolwich Manor Way - Gallions Reach DLR - Cyprus. The route was introduced to replace the southern section of route 69 between Canning Town station and North Woolwich. It was initially operated by Blue Triangle from their Ferry Lane (FL) garage using MCW Metrobuses.
On 23 October 1999, the route was converted to low floor operation using East Lancs Lolyne bodied Dennis Tridents.
On 1 May 2004, the route was retained by Blue Triangle.
On 17 December 2005, the route was extended from East Beckton to Manor Park Station via route 101, and diverted at Silvertown to double run via London City Airport. Brand new Scania OmniDekkas were introduced at the same time.
On 29 June 2007, the route was included in the sale of Blue Triangle to the Go-Ahead Group.
On 3 November 2007, the route was converted into a 24-hour service and the operation was transferred to Docklands Buses operating from their Silvertown (SI) garage.
On 7 November 2008, the route was rerouted to serve Beckton Bus Station.
On 30 April 2011, the route was retained by Docklands Buses with Scania OmniDekkas and brand new Wright Eclipse Gemini 2 bodied Volvo B9TLs introduced.
In January 2016, the Scania OmniDekkas were replaced by Wright Eclipse Gemini bodied Volvo B7TLs.
On 1 October 2016, the operation was transferred back to Blue Triangle operating from their River Road (RR) garage using Optare Olympus bodied Scania N230UDs.
In October 2017, the route was converted to full Wright Eclipse Gemini bodied Volvo B7TL and Wright Eclipse Gemini 2 bodied Volvo B9TL operation.
On 5 May 2018, the route passed to Stagecoach London operating from their West Ham (WH) garage using Alexander ALX400 bodied Dennis Tridents and Alexander Dennis Enviro400s.
In July 2018, the Alexander ALX400 bodied Dennis Tridents and Alexander Dennis Enviro400s were replaced by brand new Enviro400 MMC bodied Alexander Dennis E40Ds.
On 21 May 2022, the route was re-routed via Custom House and Kier Hardie Estate to replace route 241.
On 24 February 2024, existing Alexander Dennis Enviro400s were temporarily introduced alongside existing Enviro400 MMC bodied Alexander Dennis E40Ds.
In March 2025, the route was converted to a full Alexander Dennis Enviro 400 operation.
On 3 May 2025, the route passed back to Blue Triangle operating from their Henley Road (DS) garage temporarily using existing Alexander Dennis Enviro 400s and existing Wright Eclipse Gemini 2 bodied Volvo B9TLs.
Existing hybrid double deckers will be introduced from 2025.
