Скачать или смотреть Talking Skylarks on the Templehofer Feld in Berlin & hoping for their return to Blackheath, London

#Skylarks were the reason I visited the #TemplehoferFeld in #Berlin in 2023. And they were very numerous. I spent two days wandering the Feld filming the #birds. And this video features both footage of the larks and my thoughts whilst there and also on my return to #Blackheath in
London.

It also includes a little history, specifically re the Berlin Air bridge (see link below fore more info).The old airport was the key location. I also talk about how the Feld was protected - the #grasslands, open-mosaic habitat and airport buildings, from development.

It is the now the LARGEST URBAN GREENSPACE in the world, open to the public from dawn to dusk throughout the year.

Skylarks are one of the classic birds of Europe’s grasslands - and at the Templehofer Feld they are very numerous. In fact, the site is a very important place for the species in Northern Germany. Sadly,their populations have declined across Europe.

Whilst the focus is on the skylarks in Templehofer, I also lament their absence on Blackheath. They did used to breed on the heath, yet they used to which I explain toward the end of the video.

And I also give a big #SHOUTOUT for their return to Blackheath from lessons we could learn from the Feld.
