CMPD negotiating with barricaded suspect in Steele Creek

There is a heavy police presence in an apartment complex behind the Harris Teeter near Rivergate in southwest Charlotte, officials confirmed to WCNC Charlotte.

According to police, there is a barricaded subject in the apartment complex located on Little Abbey Lane.

Police said they were responding to a domestic violence disturbance call when an unknown occupant fired rounds through the door at police. None of the officers fired rounds back and no injuries have been reported, police said.

Negotiators are currently on the phone with the suspect inside the home and police said they feel confident that they can get this resolved soon.

Police have evacuated the entire apartment complex, and South Tryon and Steelecroft Parkway will be temporarily closed.
