The time of travel was 3rd week of January 2021, during a chilly winter spell. The travel was with all precautions following Covid protocols.
We do not encourage or discourage travel during the Covid situation. All you have to follow Govt regulations and safety measures.
If you are planning a weekend trip from Kolkata, this could be your ideal one, especially in winter season. All you have to do is to travel to Dhanbad from Howrah on Saturday, then book a car and visit the Water Fall and the Lake throughout the day, night stay at Dhanbad, and then take a return train on Sunday. If you have an additional day in hand, you can also plan for a visit to Pareshnath Hill.
Bhatinda is a marvelous water fall on Katri river near Dhanbad. In monsoon it comes to its best. The beautiful Topchachi lake at the foothill of Pareshnath, surrounded by hills and forests amid serene nature, is 35 km away from Dhanbad. Migratory birds in winter come to Topchanchi every year. Topchanchi Wildlife Sanctuary is formed surrounding the reservoir.
Once upon a time very famous shooting spot for Bengali & Hindi films, Topchanchi gradually lost its fame in years, mainly because of the local disturbances and negligence from Jharkhand administration. The beautiful Topchanchi has the potential for revival of Tourism in Jharkhand.
Although best time to visit is winter, in monsoon the water fall and greenery around Topchahchi Lake come to its best.
🔴We stayed at JTDC Hotel Ratan Vihar, near Dhanbad station.

Also many private hotels are there in Dhanbad to stay. We didn't find any dissent accommodation near Topchachi.
