💡 The Future of English Teaching

English has moved far beyond the walls of the classroom—it is now recognized as
one of the essential skills for thriving in the future. In times when the world is just a
click away, English becomes not only a means of communication but also a key to
opportunities and intercultural connection. At the same time, AI and social networks
are transforming the way we live, interact, and learn, while digital tools are
reshaping the classroom experience in ways we could not have imagined just a few
years ago.
In spite of these rapid changes, two concepts remain constant: education is, at its
heart, a deeply human activity, and teachers continue to play an irreplaceable role in
learning. In this session, we will explore how the roles of teachers and students are
evolving, highlight key considerations when working with children and adults these
days and in the near future. We will also reflect on the ethical use of technology in
education, and discuss three pillars that will shape the future of teaching and
learning: learning to learn, autonomous learning, and lifelong learning.
Join us for a thought-provoking and practical exploration of how educators can
embrace change, identify ways to use digital tools responsibly and wisely, and how
teaching English will continue leading the educational field.

Teacher Trainer: Mónica Meléndez

holds a Licentiate degree in Translation and Interpreting in English and French with a minor in English Teaching issued by Ricardo Palma University, a Master's degree in Education, Educational Policies and Management by San Martin University, a Diploma in Management of Educational Institutions and “Innovation in Education” issued by EUCIM-Spain, a diploma in Management of Educational Centers” by IPAE, a “Teaching in Higher Education Programs” by Bauzate y Meza University, a diploma in Coaching given by CCPUCP, the “TESOL Program for Language Program Administrators” diploma issued by the University of Maryland in Baltimore County, the Specialization in Teaching English as a Foreign Language by PUCP. She is a twice recipient of the Non-traditional student scholarship at the University of Boulder, Colorado, USA. She was an English teacher at different language centers and schools until 2006, from 2006 to 2015, an Academic supervisor of the Adult Program at ICPNA and a Coordinator of the Academic Area at Euroidiomas. Currently, she is the Director of the Specialization Program in English Language Teaching at Ricardo Palma University, the Director of the Language Center and the coordinator of the English courses at the Basic Studies Program at URP.
