Being a movie star is tough. And artists tend to have troublesome relationships in their lives. Phoenix is no stranger to heartbreaks. He dated his co-star Liv Tyler in 1995 for about three years.

After breaking up with Liv, Phoenix went on to date a South African model and then a DJ. After a series of failed relationships, he met Rooney Mara in 2013 and worked with her repeatedly for three movies. He reportedly fell for the beautiful Mara on the set of their movie “Mary Magdalene” in 2016.

Spicy gossip surrounded the love birds when Mara flaunted her engagement ring recently in May 2019. Reports of their dating started in 2016 during the time they were shooting their movie.
