Webinar 3 Geotechnical Engineering Automation

Описание к видео Webinar 3 Geotechnical Engineering Automation

Geotechnical engineering is a semi-empirical discipline in which site investigation data plays a central role. During the geotechnical curriculum, students should develop the necessary skills to allow them to process site data, interpret test results and perform subsequent design calculations. As soils exhibit complex, non-linear behavior and geotechnical properties have inherent variability, this is no easy task. The myriad of available soil parameter correlations, design methods, and software tools can complicate matters even further.

In this webinar, the advantages of using Python for the automated processing of (geospatial) site data are outlined. Based on the Python library groundhog, the possibilities for getting students quickly up to speed with geotechnical concepts, are demonstrated. Although automation has many advantages, the pitfalls are also discussed in detail.
