This is my latest speedrun of Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back! I have since obsoleted this time, but there's no video on YouTube of the new run yet. But this run is still pretty good!

So! How does one take an already good run and cut another 8 minutes from it? Well, a change in hardware, some new tricks, and less deaths. This run was played on a real PAL PS2 slim with Fast Disc Speed enabled, which saves huuuuuge time on level loading. However, even without FDS, this run is faster than my old 1:29:39. Strictly speaking, this new run is actually 1:20:50.95, but I don't care enough to nitpick over it. Round it up and be done :P
Like my old run, this video is commentated by me (MrBean35000vr) and Chadderz, my younger brother. The left side banner was made by me, and the clock belongs to Chadderz. Hope you appreciate both of them as they sure took a while to make!
A brief breakdown of this run, then. There were 5 accidental deaths this time around, of which only one was particularly terrible. The other 4 were due to my sheer incompetence at life but wasted less than 10 seconds apiece. All in all, I got very lucky with where I died. In particular, Warp Room 4 did not troll nearly as hard as usual, much to my pleasure.
So, for those new to Crash 2 speedruns, allow me to share with you some information about movement techniques.
The primary method of movement is Neutral Slide Spin, or NSS. To perform it, do a slide, then release the d-pad button or analog stick, and press spin before the slide ends. If you don't release the direction, your spin will be slow, but it's fast if you don't! A very fun and challenging way to play.
Glitched high jumps can be performed by spinning as you leap off the ground in a slide or crouch jump. These insanely high jumps can be used to jump to ledges or clear holes that are supposed to be impossible to clear.
The game allows you to keep crystals and gems in death, so deathwarping is viable in this game. It is used whenever dying is a faster method of going somewhere than walking there.
There are many other tricks, but YT descriptions aren't allowed to be too long. Watch the video for more!
This run was a long, long time coming, so I hope it is enjoyable to watch. Thanks to everyone who's been supportive while I sat there and reset and reset and reset and reset :P
Special thanks go to a few people; trihex and pirohiko for being my original inspiration. Sword0fSeals for being a boss and inventing strats and sitting there through tons of my runs while doing his own. Chadderz, because commentary among other things. CaneOfPacci for keeping those Crash leaderboards running (see https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/c...) and the other members of the Crash speedrunning community for various reasons, primarily for picking such a good set of games to speedrun :P
With that said, please enjoy, and thanks for watching/reading!
