The Irish World was at the 25th British Independent Film Awards ceremony where there were triumphs for Paul Mescal and the team behind Sinead O’Connor documentary Nothing Compares.

Aftersun, starring Paul Mescal, was the big winner taking home seven awards including the night's main prize.

Nothing Compares took the awards for Best Feature Documentary and Best Debut Documentary Director for Kathryn Ferguson.

The Irish World caught up with Kathryn and other winners Safia Oakley- Green, who took Best Breakthrough for her work in The Origin, and Rosy McEwen, who took Best Lead for her performance in Blue Jean.

We also spoke to Emma Donoghue, Kíla Lord Cassidy and Elaine Cassidy, writer and actresses from The Wonder and Aisling Franciosi who was nominated for her work in God's Creatures.

Samantha Morton told us how much the Richard Harris award meant to her having worked with the late Limerick actor early in her career.
