The RACE for 2030 APY Lands Energy Efficiency Retrofit pilot aims to provide a model for energy efficiency upgrades in remote housing in the Aṉangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara (APY) Lands that can be replicated in other dry arid regions across Australia. Solutions to reduce uncontrolled air leakage and thermal bridging have been investigated and implemented by Uni SA, the Department for Energy and Mining, and the South Australian Housing Trust, along with a suite of industry partners.

Lynda Curtis from the Department for Energy and Mining leads the project alongside lead researcher Ke Xing from UniSA. Lynda has a background in energy efficiency which she now brings to her work with First Nations communities in South Australia. She has a strong desire to see community members live in comfortable, energy efficient homes now and prepare them for the effects of climate change in the future.
