Matar Paneer; spiced and creamy curry made with onion and tomato is a complete family recipe. This has become an everyday dish at home nowadays which was not the case before, and paneer was restricted for festivals or any special occasions. This has also raised a question of making halwai jesa matar paneer or shadiyon wala matar paneer. This recipe will be helpful in answering this question😊


Ingredients-

Paneer (cut in cues)-200gm
Fresh green peas(matar)- 1cup
Refined oil -2tbsp
Ghee-1tsp
Jeera-1tsp
Onion -1 large (finely chopped)
Ginger-green chili-garlic paste - tbsp
Tomato -2medium (ground to paste with 1inch piece of beetroot for color)
Dry roasted besan -1tbsp
Coriander powder -1/2tsp
Red chili powder -1tsp
Garam masala powder -1.5tsp
Kasoori methi-1tsp
Haldi-1/2tsp
Coriander leaves -1tsp
Salt- as per taste
Water -1glass


Method –

1-Heat1tsp oil+ ghee and shallow fry the paneer cues till light golden in color. (You can even deep fry the paneer as per your choice)
2-Again heat oil in pan, add jeera and let it crackle. Fry the onion till light in color.
3-When the onion is translucent, add the ginger-garlic-chili paste and fry till the raw smell goes.
4-Mix haldi and the tomato puree. Fry for 1 minute then add coriander powder and red chili powder. Mix well and fry till the masala leaves oil.
5-At this stage, mix the roasted besan. Mix it well and ensure no lumps are formed. Add the green peas and 2tbsp water to make the masala wet. Cover and let the masala cook for 2-3 minutes.
6-Add the remaining water, salt. Mix well, cover and let it cook for another 2-3 minutes. Next, add the paneer, garam masala powder, kasoori methi; mix, cover and cook for 5-7 minutes.
7- Lastly, mix the coriander leaves and the yummy matar paneer is ready.
