Описание к видео MISS CODE WEST TOYS WITH HER COMPETITION, WINNING OKLAHOMA CLASSICS DISTAFF TURF

It may say something else on Remington Park’s lease, but make no mistake, Miss Code West currently owns this race track. The two-time defending Champion Horse of the Meeting here basically toyed with her competition Friday night to win the $99,600 Oklahoma Classics Distaff Turf for Oklahoma-breds.

It was Miss Code West’s second stakes win in a row at this meet and her fifth black-type event in a row overall. She also won the $50,000 Bob Barry Memorial Stakes at Remington Park on Sept. 12. That one was at 7-1/2 furlongs over the turf. The 4-year-old Oklahoma-bred filly showed her versatility Friday by stretching out to 1-1/16 miles over the firm grass to win by a neck. It seems like a very tight race, but jockey Floyd Wethey, Jr. and Miss Code West were never worried.

“I had a lot of horse left,” Wethey said. “She let those other horses come up to her and then she knew and I knew (we were going to win). She was just out there doing Miss Code West things.”

Miss Code West won for the ninth time at Remington Park, moving the young filly within seven of all-time winningest horse in Oklahoma City, Welder, who won 16 times over this track.

The daughter of Code West, out of the Kipling mare Inca Miss, was bet down to 1-9 odds to win the race and in the end, they don’t ask you by how much you won, just how you won.

Miss Code West, owned by Jeffry and Julie Puryear of Denton, Texas, is trained by Kevin Scholl and was bred in Oklahoma by Bryan Hawk.

“She’s just a super horse,” said Scholl. “The way she has been running on the turf, we decided to keep her going in that direction. We will probably send her in that stakes at the end of the meet (the $75,000 She’s All In Stakes, 3-year-olds-and-up, fillies and mares going one mile-70 yards on the main track).”

It was Miss Code West’s third win in four starts greensward. She ran second to multiple stakes winner Letta’s Legacy in her only try over the main track this meet at 6-1/2 furlongs, which was no disgrace.

Miss Code West earned $59,760 from the purse and improved lifetime to 16 starts, 12 wins, and two seconds for earnings of $564,477. She paid $2.20 to win, $2.10 to place and show. Pushing her in the finals strides were a pair of longshots – Talkin Cadee (15-1), who got up for second and Maybe Dolcie (9-1) who was another 2-1/2 lengths back of the runner-up in third. The rest of the order of finish was C W Charm (46-1) fourth, Doudoudouwanadance (6-1) fifth, Catale Winemixer (66-1) sixth and Runaway Okie (49-1) seventh.

Running time for Miss Code West was 1:43.01. She made every pole a winning one, setting interior fractions of :24.23 for the first quarter-mile, :49.11 for the half-mile, :1:13.08 for three-quarters of a mile and 1:37.12 for the mile.

This was the first win in the Distaff Turf for Miss Code West who picked up her third Oklahoma Classics win in as many years. She won the Lassie as a 2-year-old in 2023 and the Distaff in 2024.
