I was born on the day John F. Kennedy was shot. So I always felt a special connection to the Kennedy family. When I found out recently that Neil Diamond's hit was inspired by JFK's daughter Caroline Kennedy the song went straight to the top of my TUTORIALS TO DO list. So here it is ...

"I was a young, broke songwriter in the ’60s", Neil Diamond explained in an interview with the Associated Press some years ago, "when I saw a cute photo of Caroline Kennedy in a magazine. It was a picture of a little girl dressed to the nines in her riding gear, next to her pony. It was such an innocent, wonderful picture. I immediately felt there was a song in there.”
