Описание к видео The Gospel of Matthew: Both Jewish and Sectarian with Dr. John Kampen

Matthew is frequently considered to be “the most Jewish gospel.” Both Jewish and Christian scholars advanced proposals throughout the last two centuries to explain this connection. Based upon new insights made possible by the discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls, this lecture with Dr. John Kampen will propose that the arguments advanced within Matthew's gospel find their most adequate explanation within a sectarian Jewish context, similar to that known to us from the Dead Sea Scrolls. This perspective will be evaluated through an examination of two accounts in Matthew: the Sermon on the Mount and the trial of Jesus.
