Karakol is a dance ritual performed by devotees as they join a pilgrimage and is carried out during fiestas. The devotees dance their way to the church to the tune of a lively marching band, following a waltz rhythm. The dance movement is performed collectively to express gratitude to the patron saint. This event focuses on the tradition/Culture - Karakol is particularly the one being practiced in Cavite. This Tradition (Karakol) relates to the history of the barangay/town and the faith of the people.
KARAKOL is a religious precession known through dancing. The Philippines has one of the richest cultures in the world, especially in terms of practices related to the predominant Catholic faith. One practice that Filipinos inherited from Spain and continue to celebrate up to the present time is that of celebrating fiestas to commemorate the feast days of patron saints. All fiestas will have some procession of sorts which would often include festive dancing known as the Karakol.
