Roots of Innovation (EN/EN)

At Corticeira Amorim, we have been providing the wonders of cork to the world for over 150 years. Recently, we began a new chapter of forestry research and cork production, with the acquisition of Herdade da Baliza and Herdade de Rio Frio.

Rio Frio is home to one of the largest areas of planted cork oak forest in the world, and also, the largest composed of cork oaks planted at a defined pace.

Combining history with innovation and commitment we launched the Forest Intervention Project (https://www.amorim.com/en/), a program designed with the purpose of enhancing our forests and our raw material – cork -, dedicated on deepening the knowledge about the resistance of cork oaks, promoting the sharing of technical knowledge about the activity and enabling the planting of more than one million trees on our properties. Through these initiatives, we increase carbon capture and boost the sustainability of the cork oak forest and its ecosystems.
