Part of my 34th birthday homecoming, I made my second-ever ride on a streetcar, doing lunch at the legendary Camellia Grill, one of my favorite places ever.

The Charles Streetcar Line is the oldest extant streetcar line in the world, in operation since the 1830s, and it is one of the biggest tourism draws in the Southern United States. Designated Route 12 in the RTA system, it's the busiest of all the streetcar lines, and is the most-depicted in TV and film, as its green cable cars run through the most storied parts of New Orleans.

Cruising at a mere 20 miles per hour, the St. Charles Line runs 6 miles with a total of 61 stops throughout the heart of the Big Easy, with one track in each direction. Here, I took the line from Common Street in the CBD to Freret Street near Audubon Zoo, revisiting TONS of childhood memories along the way.
