A U.S. Army Chaplain is an officer who functions as a Religious Professional embedded within the ranks of the Army.
In other words, Chaplains are representatives of their individual faith groups, who serve at the discretion of the government in order to protect constitutionally mandated religious freedom and provide religious support to Soldiers, Families, and DA Civilians.
To fulfill this vital role, pastors, priests, imams, rabbis, and others join together to form the US Army Chaplain Corps.
Our purpose in Chaplain Recruiting is to locate and qualify called ministers to find America’s finest religious leaders in order to approve and equip them into service as Chaplains in the US Army Active Duty and into the US Army Reserves.
If you have any doubt as to the need and effectiveness of this ministry, know this. Within the most diverse and effective Army in the world, we have, for almost two and a half centuries, assembled the most diverse and effective corps of religious leaders in the world. Day in and day out, US Army Chaplains provide superior support to Soldiers in the areas of ethics, morale, and religion. To be honest with you, that’s just the basics of what US Army Chaplains do.
