Master Distiller Dr. Bill Lumsden had long wanted to combine the taste of Cognac with the single malt of Glenmorangie, but he was afraid that the French oak barrels would smother the flavors of Glenmorangie. Therefore, he chose Cognac casks that had been filled many times to minimize the influence of the wood.
