Warlords of New York is a semi-functional Beta Test of a product. Ubisoft Massive knew damn well that nobody of sane mind would shell out cash for Year 2 DLC, given how pitiful the Year 1 content has been (well, we still haven't got all of it, but Im prepared to take a wild punt that it will be underwhelming). Ubisoft had a problem: they needed to engineer the circumstances where players were forced to "opt-in" to the purchase, and they would be punished for not paying up. Well it looks like Massive finally found something that they excel at: Ransoming their customers purchases.
