CoderDojo Brighton is hoping to start its 10th year in the next few weeks, but is looking for a venue to hold their sessions!

CoderDojo is a global movement of volunteers, set up to encourage kids and young people to become creators rather than just users of computers. Launched in September 2013 CoderDojo Brighton is a free coding club for young people with the aim of encouraging creativity and learning coding at your own pace.

The free programming club for 6 to 17 year olds, has been running fortnightly for 9 Years from Moulsecoomb campus at the University of Brighton, but is now short of a room to hold the workshops.

Since 2013, it has had up to 64 ‘Ninja’s (what they call their attendees) in one session and has had 1190 registrations in the time. The mentors are industry professionals who give their time free. Some of the Ninja’s have stayed on as mentors, when they get too old for the club. The club is not a taught course; it encourages Ninja’s to find a project they want to do, helping them start it and staying on hand to help them through it.

Now, they're asking for our help to find a new venue suitable for their workshops.

Founder Fred Hasson, says “we’ve been looking for a new venue, a space we can use on Saturdays fortnightly for (40-50 kids, + parents in attendance, plus wifi),  for a while, and its now getting too close to call, as September is upon us”
