The Pakistan Navy on Tuesday carried out a successful test of an indigenously developed, ship-launched anti-ship ballistic missile, according to the military’s media wing.

In a statement, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said the missile can engage targets at sea and on land “with high precision” and is equipped with “state-of-the-art guidance and advanced manoeuvrability features”. The test was witnessed by Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf, along with senior scientists and engineers.

The ISPR described the launch as evidence of Pakistan’s technological capabilities and the Navy’s commitment to protecting national interests. President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Shamshad Mirza and other service chiefs congratulated the units and scientists involved.

The statement also recalled that on September 30, the Pakistan Army had successfully conducted a training launch of the indigenously produced Fatah-4 cruise missile, with a range of 750 kilometres. The ISPR said the system is fitted with advanced avionics and navigational aids, capable of evading enemy missile defences through its terrain-hugging ability while maintaining high precision.
