As I waited for my Grab car to arrive to take me to the airport this morning, I heard the sound of cymbals clashing and drums beating. The lion dancers were on the way to perform. There was a line of fire crackers (I presume) in the shape of the number 8 and I thought this might be done thing with the dancers and music. After all, there’s still over a week of Chinese New year to celebrate.

Unfortunately I could not stay until the end to see the lighting of the crackers. They would have been a sight, and sound! As kids, we used to play with fire crackers, but they have, amongst other things, banned in Singapore. Those were fun childhood days .

So I’m at Malacca airport. It’s a small airport and it’s not busy. I’m early and the counter is not open yet. I had intended to travel by coach, but the immigration at the causeway could be troublesome, so I’m told. So I’m on a no frills flight to Singapore today.

Malacca has turned out to be the best of the 3 places I visited in Malaysia. Thank goodness for that. Somehow I don’t think I’ll be back here again. I’m looking forward to being in Singapore now, and looking forward to catching up with my friends again and relaxing a little bit more. Yes, it will be good to be in Singapore again, a more familiar and comfortable place for me than Malaysia has been.




It’s good to be back in Singapore. It still feels emotional for me flying into Singapore!

Talk about duper-efficiency! I was out of customs with my luggage 20 minutes after landing. Ok, it wasn’t a busy time and there are I believe 3 other terminals, but I just sailed through from one thing to another. And on the metro train after 10 minutes, including taking time to buy a SIM card, selling some Ringgit for Dollars and topping up my metro card from last year! I’m going to be happy here I’m sure.

So I’ll just sit back and enjoy the ride to China town where I’ll be staying.
