Boycott face filters in 2024?

This woman is getting ABSOLUTELY DRAGGED on social media right now (my longer video is on TikTok, Facebook and Instagram).

Because, if someone talks about face filters after they have had cosmetic surgery, apparently that is hypocritical.

Honestly, I couldn’t give even half a care about this. I don’t care whether you have had cosmetic surgery or not, you are allowed an opinion on face filters.

Personally, I find this topic interesting. In the fitness industry, modifying photos is VERY common.
Many fitness models have been caught(?) secretly narrowing their waist, making their glutes, shoulders, thighs or chest bigger.

This isn’t just changing the lighting by adding shadows, it’s actually reshaping body contours to make themselves appear leaner or more muscular, which I think is an ethical dilemma, especially when they are selling you something.

Personally, I think that photo and video editing is getting out of hand. It used to be reserved for models and celebrities in magazines and on TV.

Nowadays, photo and video editing apps are VERY common, and I suspect more people are scared to show up to social media with their plain old regular face when adding a beauty filter is so easy.

Apparently, face filters are also reported as being used as inspiration for cosmetic surgery. People go to their cosmetic surgeon and say "yeah I want to look more like this" and then show a photo of a filtered face.

So, no hate to anyone, sincerely.

Just keep in mind that the content you consume has the power to make yourself feel worse about the way you look. And beauty filters are a likely amplification factor of that.
