Poppies can be made in many different yarn weights, so grab your favourite yarn and a suitable sized hook, and let's get crocheting!

I prefer crocheting poppies using 3ply (Light Fingering #1) weight yarn, and a 3.5mm hook.
You could also experiment with the following hook and yarn pairings. Keep in mind that different fibres & your own personal crochet tension will affect the size and nature of the finished flower.
4ply (Fingering weight #1) with 3.75mm hook
5ply (Sport weight #2) yarn with 4mm hook
8ply (DK weight #3) yarn with 4.5mm hook
